Work out what you want from your tech job.

Get clear on what's changed, then decide whether to stay, change direction or leave. Six weeks of 1:1 coaching for software engineers who want to reflect on the role they want next.

Sound familiar?

The job changed while you were in it

Everyone keeps calling it progress, and maybe it is. It's still not the job you signed up for.

—

Everything changed so fast you haven't had time to work out how you feel about it.

—

You ship twice as much as last year and enjoy the work half as much.

—

You used to build things. Now you check what a machine built, and you're still the one who answers for it.

—

You spend more of your day switching between AI agents than talking with your team, and you miss working with people.

—

You can't tell whether you want to stay, change direction or leave. Or you've been laid off and don't know if the job you want still exists.

It isn't all loss

Missing the old work and enjoying the new tools can both be true

+

You don't miss tussling with a failing test at 5.45pm on a random Tuesday.

+

You can see how powerful AI coding tools are, and a lot of what they make possible interests you.

+

You want to be creative and empowered in this new work landscape but it's hard to know where to start.

What changes

You decide what happens next

You say what's actually going on.

You get what you've lost and what's bothering you out of your head and into words, so it stops running in the background.

You know what's still there.

You work out which parts of the work you still want, and which parts are gone.

You make the call.

Stay, change direction or leave. You decide with a clear head, and feel confident in where you're headed.

Lucy Monie Hall

I've been here before

I'm a three-time certified coach and software engineer with nearly ten years' experience in the UK and Australia. Earlier, I was a travel guidebook editor, and I watched that industry shrink and change. I know how unsettling it can feel.

When I left publishing and rebuilt my career at 41, I missed working with authors and travel content, even the overly exciting parts (Afghanistan guidebook, I'm looking at you). I found my next step through trial and error. From my learnings, I can help you get there much faster than it took me.

I won't tell you whether the change is good or bad. I'll help you work out what you want from it.

How it works

1

Book a call

A short, free call to talk through where you are and whether it's a fit. No pitch.

2

Pick a start date

If it's a fit, we set a date.

3

Six weeks of 1:1 sessions

We sort out what's changed and what you've lost, then what you want next.

Six weekly 1 hour 1:1 video calls, $600.

Already know you want this?

Coaching isn't therapy. If you're struggling, a GP or counsellor is the right first step, and you can do both.

Think it through out loud

Nobody asked whether you wanted the work to change. You're allowed to miss it.

You already know that explaining a problem out loud is half of solving it. That's why people keep a rubber duck on their desk.

A duck can't ask the next question. I can, and I've been through a change like this. You get to an answer faster, and make the call with a clear head.
